Local calculations
Our calculator code processes bill amounts, tip bases, percentages, people, currency choices and payment plans in your browser. It does not send those values to our servers, write them to browser storage, add them to the page address or include them in application logs. Reset, reloading and returning to the page clear the calculation. Currency choices do not request exchange rates.
Copy payment plan writes the displayed plan to your device's clipboard only when you choose that action. Your operating system and other software with clipboard access may then be able to read it.
Optional feedback
When you choose Give feedback, we load a Tally form to collect your message and optional category and email address. We send only fixed site, page, component, language, release and environment identifiers. We do not attach your calculator input, results or page query string. Please leave out personal financial information.
We use feedback to improve the site and may use your optional email only for follow-up about your message. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in understanding and fixing product problems. Feedback is not a marketing subscription.
Tally receives your message and ordinary connection information, including your IP address. See Tally’s privacy policy (opens in a new tab). We remove the optional contact field and minimise personal details before sending feedback to OpenAI’s Codex for AI-assisted analysis. This processing uses external services and does not happen entirely on your device. International processing and provider recovery periods may apply; see OpenAI’s privacy policy (opens in a new tab).
Access is limited to the operator and authorised processing. We may keep restricted backups of feedback and review progress in Google Drive; see Google’s privacy policy (opens in a new tab). We review raw feedback and its backups for deletion after 90 days. Recovery periods may apply. We retain minimised improvement themes only while needed, and a person decides what to change. AI analysis does not make decisions about you with legal or similarly significant effects. Use the contact details below or on Publisher & contact for a privacy request.
Hosting
Cloudflare delivers the public website and receives ordinary request and connection information, including IP address, requested public page, browser information and request time. Calculator values are not included in those requests by our code. We use hosting information to deliver and protect the site, based on our legitimate interest in operating a reliable website.
Cloudflare also processes service and security information under its privacy policy. Processing may occur outside your country and the European Economic Area. Its Data Processing Addendum describes processor obligations and international safeguards. We do not maintain a database of calculations, and have not established one retention period for every copy of Cloudflare's connection and security information.
Advertising, cookies and analytics
This version loads no advertising, consent-provider or visitor analytics scripts, sets no site cookies and uses no browser storage. Advertising is permitted on the calculator and guide, but activation requires verified provider configuration and the relevant consent controls. If activated, third-party advertising code can access the page, including calculator fields; a local calculation alone is not a guarantee that those third parties cannot read them. The public policy and choices must describe the actual providers before activation.
Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools may provide aggregated search information to the publisher without adding a visitor analytics script to this page.
Contact and privacy requests
If you email us, we use your sender details and message to respond, investigate a problem or handle a privacy request. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in responding, or a legal obligation where it applies. Email providers process messages for delivery and storage. We retain correspondence while needed for the enquiry, resulting correction or a legal obligation, then remove it; provider recovery periods may also apply. Please leave out personal financial information.
Where the GDPR applies, you may request access, correction, erasure or restriction, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Portability applies where its legal conditions are met. Rights have legal limits; we explain any applicable limit. We do not make automated decisions about you with legal or similarly significant effects.
Use Publisher & contact to make a request. We respond without undue delay, normally within one month, and explain a permitted extension within that month. We may need information to verify your identity. You can complain to your competent data protection authority, including the Dutch Data Protection Authority, without contacting us first.
